Error with Notepad plus plus

I am receiving this error when using Notepad++.

Along with this message I am unable to shut down the program and it causes Notepad++ to consume massive amounts of CPU.

Any reason why it can’t be closed and how do I fix it?

Application Error

Exception EAccessViolation in module HTMLTag_unicode.dll at 0005EDC8.

Access violation at address 0480EDC8 in module ‘HTMLTag_unicode.dll’. Read of address 6AF54E60.

Hello.

May be notepad ++ ran into a problem.

In order to shutdown the program when this error occurs, try the following steps.

1. Press ctrl + alt + delete to open task manager.

2. Select process tan in the task manager and select notepad ++.

3. After selecting notepad++ click on end task in order to close the program.

Try to uninstall the software and install it freshly.
