Hi,

On my notebook, I installed Windows 7, 32 bit version recently, and it was functioning. But a few months later, my notebook began to restart repeatedly. I tried to make an earlier image of Windows, but failed. Again I wanted to install Windows cleanly, but that gave an error no: 0x80070057 which says that cannot be installed on the partition.

Even when I tried to use diskpart method, it was unsuccessful. I have a headache trying to solve this issue. I would like to request the experts to help me resolving this problem. Please help me……….

Error no: 0x80070057

Thanks.

Hello Robert,

To resolve that issue, you will need to try renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder as follows:

  • On your computer click Start, and then select Run.
  • After that go to the Run box and then type: services.msc
  • And then click OK.
  • Next you will right-click the Automatic Updates service, and then click Stop.
  • After that you will need to rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder as follows:
  • Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.
  • Right-click the Software Distribution folder, and then click Rename.
  • After that type SoftwareDistribution.old and then press ENTER to rename this folder.
  • Once you have done that click Start, and then choose Run.
  • After that go to the Run box, and then type: services.msc
  • Click OK, and then right-click the Automatic Updates service.
  • Click Start.

Regards,

Carl
