Hi pals,

When installing iTunes, the message error I am receiving is" itunes.exe- Bad Image

C:\\Windows\system32\softpub.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

I have also tried right clicking run administrator.

I need your help.

Hallo Nancy,

The following methods should help you resolve the issue that you are getting. Make sure that you download the correct package from Apple website.

Method 1:

  • Remove and then reinstall iTunes
  • Also reinstall QuickTime and any other software components for  the operating system that you are using.

Method 2:

  • Put the computer in a Clean Boot state,
  • After that try installing the same and check if that will help resolve the issue. You can check the following link for more details: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

After you have reset the computer using the methods above be sure to reboot it.
