Dear Dawn,

The error cannot find XLQUERY.XLA! could mean any of the following below.

1. The xlquery.xla is not located in its original folder.
2. The file you are try to open has a macro using the xlquery.xla add-in.
3. The file was last saved using MS Excel 95 and contains a query to external data.

You may try to use any of the solutions below.
1. Search for the xlquery.xla file from your local drive. Once found cut and paste to the original folder which is C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeLibraryMsquery
2. Get a copy of the file XLQuery.xla from another MS Office XP installed and paste on the original folder mentioned above.

Hope any of these helps!

If that error always appears every time you open Microsoft Office Excel then it is really something that needs fixing. If you installed an add-on or a plug-in for Microsoft Office Excel then it is possible that it is the reason why a file went missing. But if you did not do anything on your software then you can try fixing this by doing a clean installation on the application.

First, try restarting your computer then see if you can launch the application without receiving that error. But if this doesn’t help, uninstall Microsoft Office Excel then restart your machine when asked. After booting, check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. For a much thorough diagnostic test on your computer, use a disk utility application like PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Install Microsoft Office Excel then see if this fixes the problem.
