I am installing my BitDefender antivirus on my desktop but always gets the error message “BitDefender installation has failed". Tried doing the setup again but still could not proceed. My CPU specs are Windows XP SP3, 4GB Memory, 500GB HDD. Anyone can help me on how to finish the installation?

Hi,

You haven't mentioned the version of your Bit Defender. Please provide the version numbers while asking this type of questions.

You are probably facing a compatibility error.

– Make sure you have no other antivirus installed.

– Delete the antivirus folder from System > Program Files / Program Files (x86)

– Try installing again.

Note that Bit Defender 2012 supports windows XP SP3. Not the previous versions.

If such a problem occurs while installing Bitdefender, at first check, you have no other anti-virus installed. Then try to install it again following these steps:

1.  Right click on the Bitdefender installation kit and choose Properties. Then click the ‘Unblock’, then click Apply and then click Ok.

2. Download and run the Bitdefender Uninstall tool to remove traces of Bitdefender from your PC.

3. After using the uninstall tool(s), reinstall Bitdefender.

Or I would recommend you to check if the issue exists in a clean boot state.

If you are installing Bitdefender, the failed installation is maybe because your operating system is no longer supported. Previous versions of Bitdefender support Windows XP but the most recent release discontinued support for Windows XP and Windows Vista. That’s probably why you keep getting a failed installation no matter how you try. To install this antivirus, you need a much newer version of Microsoft Windows.

To get the latest free version, go to Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition and download it. The latest version at the moment supports Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1.5 GB RAM, and 800 MB free space. When installing Bitdefender, install it with an admin account.

You won’t be able to install any antivirus program with a limited or non-admin user account. Bitdefender stopped supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista after Microsoft stopped supporting these two operating systems.
