Hello experts

When I click right and want to "edit" my photos, I am getting the following error message:

RunDLL

Error Loading C:Program Files (x86)Windows Photo GalleryPhotoViewer.dll

C:Program Files (x86)Windows Photo GalleryPhotoViewer.dll is not valid Win32 application.

OK

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 operating system. I've checked my computer for probable viruses and spyware. Then I've selected system restore to no benefit. I've also using the system file checker.

Need your help. Thanks in advance.

Hi wellingclark

It seems you are running on windows vista 64 bit but your image viewer is under 32 bit interface OR the file “photoviewer.dll ” is corrupt.

Either way, the way to fix this particular problem is to repair or replace that dll file.

FIRST you could try the official windows method

The official windows method :-

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

  1. Select Start, and then key in “cmd” in the Start Search box.
  2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, go ahead and key in your password then click continue
  3. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow

When the scan is complete, confirm if your issue has been sorted out.

IF UNSUCCESSFUL Try my method.

  1. Ok use this URL to download the dll file: https://fix4dll.com/photoviewer_dll
  2. Copy that dll file to C:/Program files x86/windows photo viewer folder.
  3. Restart your PC

Hope it solves the issue.

I think that the problem is caused by some registry issues, please go to

Start > Run > 'regedit' then press enter, now go to this location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion

Set the default tp 'C:Programs' > Reboot and then re-set the default program on Start > Control Panel > Default Program > Choose your gallery program and you're good to go

That is a sure sign that your Windows Photo Gallery application has a corrupt file which is already pointed out in the error message. The best way to fix a corrupted file is to reinstall the program where it belongs to. If you no longer have the installer with you, you can download Windows Live Photo Gallery.

It supports Windows Vista Service Pack 2 with Platform Update for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2 both 32-bit and 64-bit. If you are using 64-bit Windows 7 then you can install this application. It requires 1.6 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM, 1024 x 576 screen resolution minimum, and video card with DirectX 9 and Shader Model 2 support or higher.

If reinstalling the program is not an option, you can download the DLL file from Download photoviewer.dll. To install the DLL file, unpack the ZIP file then copy the DLL file to the installation folder of the program requesting it. In this case, copy it to the location indicated in the error message then overwrite the existing “photoviewer.dll” file in the folder.
