I am trying to install DSL with my modem Alcatel Lucent 20A, but I am receiving error: DSL modem already installed.

To upgrade the software you must remove the current software and run the setup again.

I already removed the Alcatel Lucent folder in the Program Files folder but it has no effect.

Please help me resolve my problem.

Thank you.

In the statement "To upgrade the software you must remove the current software and run the setup again." the words "remove the current software" means that you uninstall the application and not delete its folder from Program Files.

You misunderstood it.

And since you already deleted its folder from Program Files, there is no way for it to uninstall anymore. Go to the Recycle Bin and undelete the folder. After doing it, follow these:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. You will see the list of installed programs in your computer. Select your modem’s application and then click Remove found on the right end. This will uninstall the modem’s software.

Then just follow what the message says, run the setup file again so you can upgrade the modem’s software. If you are still having a problem with it, check if the software is compatible with your Windows version. Maybe that’s the reason why it’s giving you errors.
