I am fighting for weeks to update my current version (Software Version: 60 Bundle 2475) of BlackBerry Desktop Software to the available updated version (Updated Version: 6.0 Bundle 2949) marked by the red asterisk next to Updated Version on the home screen of BlackBerry Desktop Software.

I am continuously getting the same error message: "An error has occurred while downloading software for your device.

Please verify your Internet connection or try again later, if the problem persists."

Hi,

I also encountered the same problem as yours during Updating Device Software and also during installation of some program software; the same error has occurred, the problem is absolutely your internet connection. Unplug your internet connection and reload again or restart your internet connection to avoid errors for internet connection.

Best regards,

Heather marie

First of all, ensure that you have a firm internet connection. The issue occurred due to intermittent connection. Try to reset your modem and try updating again. Then go to the BlackBerry download page and download the latest BlackBerry Desktop Software v7.1.0 B42.

If you want to do a clean install of the BB Device Software, just follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Device and select the Update option.

2. You will be prompted with a message stating that there is no available updates, click the View opther versions on the left side.

3. You will see that the present version is already checked on the Available Versions list. Click Install.

4. Uncheck the box next to Back up device data and then click the Install update button.

Hello,

There might be some issue with your registry or system misconfiguration. Check the followings.

First, make sure that “ole32.dll” is registered perfectly.

1. Start an elevated Command Prompt.

2. Run the following command:
regsvr32 ole32.dll

If that doesn’t solve your issue,

1. From Start menu, type “services.msc” >> hit Enter.

2. Scroll down and find out “DCOM Server Process Launcher”.

3. Double-click on it.

4. From the “Properties” window, open “General” tab.

5. Change the values accordingly:
Startup type: Automatic
Service status: Started

6. Restart your PC.

Also, make sure that firewall isn’t blocking the program from any task. Try to run the program in administrative mode. Right-click on the launcher and select “Run as administrator”.

I guess the reason for this is because you are not downloading the latest version manually but instead, you are downloading the new version from within or using the BlackBerry Desktop Software. It’s like, you start the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Help, check for update, and then you download it.

Supposedly, this is the suggested method of updating the application like with any other applications as well. When you do this, the installer automatically runs after its download and automatically updates the program. But with my experience when doing this, I sometimes see the download not finishing and always stops in the middle though there is no problem with the connection.

Every time I encounter this, my solution just to fix it is to download the latest version manually using the web browser. Once the download is complete, I run the installer and the old version is automatically updated. You can also uninstall the old version first before running the latest installer. This is just the same.

To fix your problem, visit BlackBerry Desktop Software using your web browser and download BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1. Once downloaded, start the installer to update the software.
