Hi,

Norton Ghost gives me this error when I want to copy the files from C drive. I think I messed up my Windows with this error. I tried to make a backup with Norton Ghost for C partition and I had this. Can anyone help me to fix this ? What this error means ?

Thanks !

Cannot complete copying of (C:) drive.

If you are using Norton Ghost 14, I’m not sure if you can copy files from your system drive to another drive if the destination drive’s partition is set to active. If you are trying to copy an entire drive to another drive using Norton Ghost, the partition of the target drive should not be active.

To do it properly, make sure the target drive or the new drive has unallocated space. An unallocated space is the unpartitioned space in the hard drive or the space in the hard drive that has not been partitioned. If your target drive still has a partition, delete the partition using Windows Disk Management or using PartitionMagic.

You can download it from PartitionMagic 8.0. Once the target drive has already an unallocated space, copy the source drive to the target drive using Norton Ghost. When using Norton Ghost to copy the drive don’t use or don’t select copy MBR. Once copying is finished, use PartitionMagic to set the partition of the target drive to Active.

Once it is done, shutdown your computer and then exchange your drives. For added information, when the space in the hard drive is partitioned, the partitioned space is now called allocated space.
