Hello Pro,

After the system configuration when I try to download the browser it went pretty well and good. However, when I try to open the browser for the time I ended up with an error message. I did everything to default settings and I have windows operating system with 64bit. Then I tried to reinstall it again but no luck I got the same error message. Please help thanks.

In order to fix your issue, you’ll have to correct the path in DOORS to the “Web Browser” as below:

  1. Login to DOORS client with an “Administrator” user.
  2. Under Database Explorer of DOORS, go to Tools >> Options.
  3. Open “Settings” tab.
  4. Go to “Miscellaneous” section.
  5. Click “Browse” to figure out the right path to “Web Browser”.
  6. Browse for the browser path. For example, in the case of Firefox, the path will be “C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe”. This depends on your browser’s installation directory.
  7. Select the file and press “Open”.
  8. Click Apply >> OK.

Now, your error won’t bother you again.

If you did the configuration as instructed and you entered the path to Microsoft Internet Explorer manually, I guess the problem there is with a typo when you typed the path of the browser. The correct path of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser executable is without quotes “C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe”. “Program Files” should have a space and not “ProgramFiles” or “programfiles”.

With the path you entered in the configuration of the program, you are pointing the location of the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser executable to “C:\ProgramFiles\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” but there is no “C:\ProgramFiles” folder and that’s what triggers the error. To fix the problem, just enter the correct path of the Microsoft Internet Explorer executable and it should fix the problem.

If you have 64-bit Microsoft Windows like with me I have 64-bit Windows 7, you will have two paths for the executable:

  • C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

I guess you can enter either of the paths and it should work the same.
