Hello Pro,

When I am using SQL 2008 Repot Builder to report on SharePoint lists I ended up with an error message. When I am setting up the credentials to use the current windows user I stuck up there. I verified the connection it is working well. Am I going wrong anywhere? How to fix the error? Help please. Your help is great.

Here’s how you can properly add and verify a data source or a data connection. To create or establish a reference to a shared data source, in the Report Data panel, click New then select Data Source. In the Data Source Properties dialog box, enter a name in the Name field.

Note that this is not the name of the shared data source in the report server and is saved or stored in the local report definition. Choose “Use a shared connection or report model”. Click Browse to select one from a report server, navigate to the folder on the report server, select the shared data source, click Open, and then OK.

To verify or validate a data connection, in the Report Data panel, double-click on the data source. Click Test Connection in the Data Source Properties dialog box. You will see “Connection created successfully” when it is successful. Here, click OK. But when you received “Unable to connect to the data source” then the connection is unsuccessful.

In this case, click Details and then use the information to fix the problem. Click OK when finished. For more information, you may visit Specify Credentials in Report Builder. Also visit Create an Embedded Data Source.
