Error box shown while trying to install the newer version of Windows

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron 14R. My version of Dell Support Center is a little outdated.

So, I took it out in order to install the newer version, but I am greeted with the following error: Software not Installed.

I used the dell chat  feature, and they exhausted all their ideas with no success. I even used the factory defaults on my computer (datasafe), but no luck.

Has anyone encountered a problem like this while installing the program?

If you have, can you please give me the solution?

This is what I see:

It happens just after I have checked for updates.

Dear Dawn hardwick, I have read you problem.

It seems you did not performed a clean uninstallation, so that’s why you are getting this error. Make sure there is nothing left of previous installation, on your machine.

To perform a clean uninstallation, now you will have to delete “Dell Support Center” folder from wherever it is on your computer. Look into Application Data, Programs, and also Temp folders if there is any relevant data, then delete it.

There may be also registry entries, so you have to delete them also.  For this purpose use some third party software, such as “Ashampoo Winoptimizer”. It will detect unnecessary entries and will delete them.

You can also try restoring your system settings to a previous time, when you did not had Dell Support Center installed. It may also resolve your problem.

When you have make sure that there isn’t any data related to Dell Support Center on your computer, then install the latest version. Now it will not conflict with the leftovers of previous installation.

Hope this all helps.

Hello Dear,

I’m also using the same model of dell laptop. This problem may occur because of installation problems and problems with windows registry.

Anyway, you can do the following things to solve this matter. The procedures are given step by step below:

Go to search box

Write ‘eventwr’ there and press enter

Go to windows log application

If there is existed any line in red color, please copy the problem ID

You should also copy the source code in the log entry.

Now open your malware removal application and scan your PC. If you do not have any malware removal tool, then download it and install it on PC.

Again a deep scan of the system registry may prove helpful

Hope your problem is solved
