This is sometimes an error between the application download manager and the page of the site. It causes a conflict of some sort. Check your hard drive for any possible errors that it might contain. Use a disk utility application to diagnose your computer. If you don’t have one installed on your computer, just use Windows’ own disk check tool just like what is described below.

  1. Right-click drive C and then select Properties.
  2. Click Tools tab.
  3. Click Check Now.
  4. Check Automatically fix file system errors then click Start.

If you still can’t do a download and the error “Unable to read catalog due to code 860” appears again, try uninstalling and reinstalling HP Client Automation Application Self Service Manager and then try using the application again afterwards. If the download manager is still hopeless to download anything, you may have to do a manual download of the software by visiting HP’s website.

Or, you may also want to try downloading again the installer for HP Client Automation Application Self Service Manager and then install it on your computer. It is possible that they updated the download manager that’s why the older version was unable to reach the right download port or socket.
