Hello!  I’m facing a surprising difficulty; hope I can get help from anyone in here! The newest BDM that I tried to install after download, I’ve encountered some error messages  with problems given below:

  • Error 1722.An error is placing with Windows Installer package. The setup process could not reach at last step. Communicate with own or package host. Make Uninstall_driver,location:C:WindowsInstaller|MSI24EB.tmp,command “C:Program Files/x86)Common FilesResearch in MotionModem DriversRimSerial.inf”*

The surprising thing is  when I pressed “ok”, the BDM functioned perfectly. Can I get the acceptable step to make this BDM installation process without any problem? Our company has a  wide range and have nearly about 7000BB’s, and we also need the latest version of BDM. Please help.
Thanks for all the help!

Error 1722: Error placing windows installer package

Dear Ulysses arredondo

The cause of this error is that your Windows installer is stopped or damaged. You will get this error in every time you try to install or uninstall a package on your pc. Try to re-register the Windows Installer service and this may solve the problem.  Go to "Start" and type "Msiexec /unregister" to unregister the Microsoft Windows Installer. Again, go to "Start" and type "Msiexec/ regserver" to register it.

If you are still having problems, then you need to install a latest version of windows installer. Once the installation is complete restart your computer. After the windows restarts, make sure that the service is working properly by typing "services.msc" in the search box in the start menu. If it's not working start the service and make sure to set the startup type to "Automatic".

Hope this may help you.

Best of luck
