Hi,

I have just completed another unsuccessful attempt at installing Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and am at my wits end as to what more to do. Here is my problem: Every time I try to install the application, I end up with this message that says the installation has failed due to a network error and the error code is 1316. I tried using the removal tool in safe mode to uninstall and then trying to install again. But still this problem persists. I was offered further tip from Google which said I had to run the tool in safe mode and then instead of rebooting I run the tool again selecting ‘All known products’. Finally, I reboot the system. This solution seemed to work many. But unfortunately, I was not so lucky. Please can anyone suggest any more ideas? I have lost count of how many times I tried the install-uninstall method. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you.

Error:

Failed to install the application

Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:WindowsInstallerkavkis.msi

Changes Made in the system will be automatically rolled back.

Hi Jimmy,
The error is due to incorrect installation of the kaspersky application in the system.
To resolve this error follow the steps mentioned below:
1) Click 'Start', click 'Control Panel'
2) Click 'Add/Remove Programs' and select the software to be removed
3) Click 'Remove' and perform the uninstall process of the software
4) Download the Windows installer cleanup utility from the Microsoft official website
5) Click the 'msicuu2' file and complete the installation process
6) Remove the appropriate files using the utility software

The installer you downloaded is maybe damaged. Try downloading the file again and see if you can get it running. Since this is an antivirus you are installing, before you run the installer make sure you have no other antivirus running in the background in case you still have one installed. If your present antivirus is still up and running, you should uninstall it first before you begin the installation for Kaspersky.

If you still receive an error even after downloading a new copy of the installer, try upgrading to the 2014 edition of Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Visit Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 to download the latest version. This version supports the latest version of Microsoft Windows. This 2014 edition of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus supports x86 Windows XP [Home or Professional] Service Pack 3, x64 Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 or higher, x86 or x64 Windows Vista [Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate] Service Pack 1 or higher, x86 Windows 7 Starter, x86 or x64 Windows 7 [Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate], and x86 or x64 Windows 8.1 [Professional or Enterprise].

Once downloaded, uninstall any antivirus that you may have and then restart the computer. After that, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then select Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files” and click OK to remove all temporary files in your hard drive. Restart your computer once it is finished and then install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014.
