Installing Autodesk Inventor 2014 on Windows 7 shouldn’t have a problem. The problem I see here is that maybe you forgot to install a component since the application requires several components to be installed for the program to work properly. Generally, Autodesk Inventor 2014 supports Windows 7 both x86 and x64 and Windows 8 x64. The minimum required RAM is 4 GB.

Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher is required. If you don’t have it yet, you need to install it. If a problem is still encountered, try installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5. If it doesn’t change, open Windows Explorer and go to “C:AutodeskWIAutodesk Inventor 2014x64inventorProgram FilesCommon Files (64-bit) FolderAutodesk SharedAdLMR7”. Verify if the file “RegisterToday.dll” is really missing or not.

If not and the file is there, try running the program as administrator. Right-click Autodesk Inventor 2014 on your desktop and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab and check “Run this program as an administrator” in “Privilege level” and then click OK. Run Autodesk Inventor again and see if it works.
