Error 0xc0000005: Application failed to initialize properly

When starting my computer, the monitor displayed this message: “Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).” I clicked OK to close the application but it didn’t do anything and it’s starting to frustrate me. I contacted Dell and was charged money for a no-fix service which added more to my frustration. I asked techie friends of mine about this problem and some of them told me that it has something to do with my computer’s registry, the other one told me that it has something to do with my drivers, and the other told me some of my files were corrupt etc.. I’m starting to get confused now, anyone know something about this? Please lend me a hand.

If you are getting the problem when you start your computer and it is in booting phase then you need to check your computer BIOS. you need to replace them or you need to update your computer BIOS. If you are getting this message when the window is loaded then there is problem in your window then you need to run your computer in safe mode and set it to a previous state and it will work fine.

To find problem you can also do some other steps some are defined here.

  • Check you disk by going to CMD and then type chkdsk and press enter.
  •  You need to check all the hardware of your company.
  •  Check for any virus on your computer and make a full scan to your computer.
  • Restart computer and press F8 key several times this will show you some options you need to select the last configuration option and then you need to perform this task. Which will check you window and will find any error in registry.

I hope you will be able to solve your problem.

I don't know anything about laptop problems. I was really irritated but thank you for your response Michael joran. Since I was unable to start my laptop, I run in safe mode ( press F8 and choose safe mode with command prompt). I checked the disk using command prompt and virus was found in my laptop. I don't have any choice but to perform system repair to my laptop. I inserted the CD of my Windows OS and used it to repair the problem. And finally, my laptop is working again. Thanks

If this error appeared on startup, it means one of the startup applications that run with Windows failed to start correctly. The next thing to do is identify which of the programs is the one. Download the free version of CCleaner and install. Once installed, start CCleaner then go to “Tools” on the left pane and select “Startup” on the right.

Under “Windows” tab, select the first item on the list then click “Disable.” Close CCleaner then restart the computer. If the error still appears, go back and run CCleaner again then disable the next item on the list. Re-enable the previous item before closing CCleaner then restart the computer. Keep doing this until the error disappears.

Once the error stops appearing, go back and run CCleaner then check the name of the application you disabled. After this, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install. Once installed, start Revo then select the program you disabled among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click to restart later.

When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and click to delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo then restart the computer.
