I am running MS Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 Final x64. From day to day I received this problem information: “Task '[email protected]' – Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F): 'The message cannot be saved to your IMAP e-mail account Sent Items folder, because Outlook is offline or the e-mail server doesn’t allow items to be saved to the Sent Items folder.” What can be the cause of this error?

If you are getting Error 0x800CCC0F, this may mean that your Microsoft Outlook/Express is unable to establish a connection to your email server. It may be caused by any one of the following:

·         Internet connection or mail server is temporarily unavailable.

·         Account settings are incorrect.

·         Damaged user profile in outlook.

·         Damaged email item in POP3 server.

To fix this issue make sure that you are connected to the internet. Verify and make sure all account settings are correct. Recreate a new profile by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mail > Email Accounts > New. You may also start Outlook in safe mode and delete suspicious messages on your mailbox.

To resolve that issue, you will need to try the following:

  • With your ms outlook program opened, you will need to double-check on the account settings.
  • There you will need to check and make sure that you have not set it as an IMAP account.
  • Another thing to note is that the 0x800CCC0F is "The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact the server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)"  error can be caused by timeouts, and therefore you will need to check if there are any timeouts.
  • If there are any you will need to ping the mail server by opening the command prompt and then typing the following: "cmd your.mailserver.com".

Hi Roland,

The error 0x800CCC0F you mentioned is mainly caused due to suddenly ended connection with server.

To resolve this issue firstly check your outlook email account settings. You can also verify your setting on another PC to ensure they are correct. If those settings works fine there, you can check with the same settings with disabling antivirus program on your PC if you installed any. Also check required ports for email are allowed from firewall. As the error is occurring at the time of sending mail you probably need to reconfigure firewall settings so that it permits Outlook to send and receive emails. In addition you can also check your POP and IMAP settings because these settings can also cause the error which you are getting.
