I am using Zune software and I was unable to update it. I have tried to uninstall the old version and install the newer software. But the error is still the same. The error code I am getting is 0x80004005.

I have tried to find the solution for it but failed. Tried to re-install it and the installation starts from 15% and then jumped to 91% and then give this error message. I am sure that I have downloaded the proper version from internet. I am using window 7 32-Bit. Need help.

Hello Jvasqez,

To resolve this problem, try the following:

  • Visit the following website: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/music-and-video/zune/software/download
  • Select the version of Windows you have installed on your computer.
  • Click the download button to save the software to your computer.
  • Browse to the folder where the file was downloaded.
  • Right-click on the file and select properties.
  • Click the Compatibility tab.
  • Under "Compatibility mode" uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
  • Click the button "Show settings for all users".

Note: A User Account Control window may appear after you click Change date and time. If this is the case, click Continue.

  • Under compatibility mode uncheck “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.

Hello,

Hope the below solution makes you happy.

1)      Go to Control Panel – Windows Firewall.

2)      You’ll have to delete the Zune firewall rules from Windows Firewall.

3)      Once this is done, then disable your windows firewall and anti-virus for time being.

4)      Remove Zune from your PC and re-install the software.

5)      Once it is re-installed then restart your machine and see it you are still having the error.

Once the issue is resolved then you can enable your firewall and anti-virus.

Before trying the above steps, make sure that you have downloaded this from trusted website and if not, then download it from Microsoft Website.

NOTE: Always keep your Microsoft Updates “Enabled” and update it regularly.

Regards,

Keaton Christopher
