This problem is occurring when you’re utilizing MS Word 97 with Adobe Type Manager Deluxe v4.0.

In order to resolve this issue,

  1. Exit Word.
  2. Start Notepad.
  3. Open “C:Windowssystem.ini” for editing. As this is a part of the Windows, you should make a backup of this file first to avoid any type of accidental problems.
  4. From the “[Boot]” section, find out these lines:
    SYSTEM.DRV=ATMSYS.DRV
    ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV
  5. At the start of the lines, add a semicolon like these:
    ;SYSTEM.DRV=ATMSYS.DRV
    ;ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV
  6. From a new line it “[Boot]” section, type this line:
    SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV

    Now, your “[Boot]” section should look like this:

    [Boot]

         ;SYSTEM.DRV=ATMSYS.DRV

         ;ATM.SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV

        SYSTEM.DRV=SYSTEM.DRV

  1. Save the file.
  2. Restart your PC.

Now, your problem shouldn’t bother you again
