Encountering Issues While Working On my Subsites with SharePoint Designer

Hello!

I’m encountering some issues while working on my subsites with my SharePoint Designer. The problem appears whenever I open the out-of-the-box Globally Reusable Workflows and this only happens when tinkering with the subsites.

This also happens with OOTB workflows. When ever I try to open it a notification appears “This workflow is read-only. Would you like to make a copy of this workflow to open or edit?” then, if I click on “yes” the problem occurs. Below is a copy of the error report.

“The server could not complete your request. For more specific information, click the Details button.

Below is the message that the server returned. For more information, contact your Internet service provider or web server administrator.

Can someone please help me?I can’t make any progress with my work.

Any help is much appreciated!

If this is the first time it happened with your application, try restarting your computer then try it again. If it’s only a fluke, a system restart might remedy the situation. But if the problem continues, you might consider reinstalling the whole software since the program seems to automatically open in a read-only state. Uninstall the affected program then check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. For a much thorough diagnostics on the system, use a disk utility application like Norton Utilities or PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Install the program again after this and then check if this fixes it.

You may also check your computer for any sign of infection. It’s unlikely for a program to automatically open and lock itself up in read-only mode. Update your antivirus then run a full system scan on your whole computer.
