EMule error while startup Failed to create Incoming files directory

I have shifted from using eDonkey to eMule. Upon starting the software for the first time an error occurred saying that it “Failed to create Incoming files directory “j:eMuleIncoming”-The system cannot find the path specified.’. Did I install the software wrong? What is the fix for this error?

Thanks in advance.

Failed to create Incoming files directory “j:eMuleIncoming” – The system cannot find the path specified.

EMule error while startup Failed to create Incoming files directory

Hello!

Error is most likely caused because eMule don't have privileges to create the "Incoming" directory in specified path.

1) If you are running Windows XP – ensure you are logged onto administrative account.

2) If you are running Vista/7/8 – ensure you run program with administrative privileges. You can do it by right-clicking on eMule icon and selecting "Run as administrator"

3) If you don't have access to administrator account – change the "Incoming" folder path in eMule settings. Go into Preferences > Directories. Window should look like this:
emule-preferences-directories-control-panel

Then select "Browse" button in the upper-right corner of the window. The most safe place to save Incoming files is "My documents", because you have full access to all the files in "My documents" folder. After that eMule should work fine!
