I have signed up for gmail account quite recently and started using Outlook Express to check my emails. The receving channel of email works fine, but when I try to send an email, an error appears saying, " An unknown error has occurred". Why is this so? Is there any kind of authentication problem? Can an expert guide me the steps how to correct the settings?

Hi Alex,

To resolve your problem, perhaps you should verify first that you are connected on the web. If so, open your Outbox and delete all outgoing emails. Then choose ‘Send/Receive’. If the error still persists, re-enter your account details (user name and password). To re-enter your account details:

1. Open the Outlook.

2. On ‘Tools’ menu, choose ‘Accounts’.

3. Select your email account.

4. Enter your correct email address and password.

5. Confirm that the listed “Incoming Server” and the “Outgoing Server” are right.

Regards,

Martine Paul

Hi Alex,

It seems that the cause of the problem is the configuration of the Outlook Express. Please ensure that you properly set up the Outlook Express by checking the type of protocol you opt to choose such as POP and IMAP. Also, you need to verify that you’ve done POP/IMAP forwarding on your Gmail account. To give you a step-by-step walk-through of the process, kindly click the link below.
