Hello Everyone,

My DVD ROM Drive is not working.

When I press Eject button it does not open, only flashes green light and makes a small noise.

The noise comes from inside the drive.

Now how can I open it?

I need your suggestion guys.

Thank you

The most probable reason for this is that the DVD ROM drive is bad or that it is corrupted.

You might want to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, after which restart your computer.

You can open the DVD ROM Drive but make sure that the computer is off and unplug it from the electricity source just for safety measure. To open the DVD ROM Drive you need to use an unfolded paperclip that is straightened, then look closely at your disc drive there should be a very small pinhole just above the eject button on the upper left side of that button. Insert the paper clip needed to eject the drive bay. Slowly push back the drive bay back into the drive and then try pressing the open/close button to check if the drive is still working.

Please remember if you are doing this procedure for several times already in opening the DVD ROM Drive and the noise still does occur, replace your DVD because the problem is the hardware itself.

It seems that your optical drive has the same problem with mine. Usually, when your CD/DVD drive starts behaving like this, where there are times that the drive operates normally and does not exhibit any abnormalities and there are also times that it does not open at all, there is no solution to this. This is the usual problem with optical drives and normally starts happening after a couple of months of being used.

There is actually no problem with the drive’s CD accessing. As with my DVD writer’s, it can perfectly read and write on to any disc except that it can’t be opened like the usual. Since you are wondering on how to open the drive on this condition, there is a solution to this but this cannot fix the drive’s mechanical problem.

If you will take a good look on the DVD drive’s eject button, you will see a small hole right on top of it. You simply need to insert a small piece of object that can fit the hole like a hair pin for example, then push it forward to manually eject the drive’s tray. This is how you can open your malfunctioning DVD drive manually.
