After reinstalling my OS, a Windows 7 32bit, the driver for the optical drive will not install. It is recognized, but every time I try to load the driver, I get this error 'Windows cannot load the device driver..' I tried all the firmware I can find, but it did not work. Can someone please help me find the driver.

Dawn,

First, please check in the device manager if the driver of the DVD is well installed,

Follow these steps:

1. Click Start, right click on a PC, click on the administration, then click on device manager, a list of devices should appear. Check if there is a yellow flag on the line of storage devices. If so, there is a problem with the driver installed.

1.1 Right click on the line with the yellow flag, should be the one related to your DVD. Choose uninstall. The driver will be eliminated.

1.2 Reinstall the driver using your windows 7 disk or look for the driver on the site of the DVD drive manufacturer.

2. If there is no yellow flag and the driver is supposed to be right installed, you will have to check some register data related to the driver. Sometimes, recording or erasing programs change the register file information and causes this kind of errors.

2.1 Go to start, type regedit, click on the line appearing above"regedit" and then click on yes. You will have something like this:

                   SCREENSHOT-OF-THE-REGEDIT-MENU

Click secuencially on:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

2.2 Choose Upper Filters register first on the right. If you find it, delete it

2.3 Choose Lower Filters and do the same as above.

After you changed values, close the regedit screen and then restart the computer.

I hope this helps
