Dual partition Windows XP and Windows 8

Windows XP is installed in my drive C. I downloaded Windows 8 and installed it to drive D for a test drive. Unfortunately after the installation, I could not boot back with Windows XP. I ran it with repair setup and was able to boot XP again, but now I could not run Windows 8. How will I be able to boot my pc with dual-OS?

Please help.

Hey there Buddy!

Win8 is still not in perfect condition but I tried it and liked some of its new features, but  up until now I am still using XP since it is reliable and I play games. Now how to dual boot XP and Win8? If you can boot to Win8 then you have to follow these instructions.

  • Right Click “Computer” in your Start Menu
  • Choose “Properties”
  • When you arrived at the System Properties, Click “Advanced System Settings” at the right side of the page.
  • When you arrived at the “Advance” Tab, Click “Start up and Recovery”.
  • There under the Startup section, you can choose which default OS you want to use.
  • Choose “earlier Version of Windows” and then click OK.
  • Restart if the PC asks for it.

Now after restart, there will be an option on what platform you want to use, if you want to use XP, choose the Earlier Version of Windows and Win8 if you want to use Win8

Good luck!
