I have an iphone 4S and I don’t know why iPhone 4 Wifi won’t turn on. There is no problem in the router as other people are able to use the Wifi. The Wifi ‘on’ option does not slide to the right. Please help.
You are not the only one facing this problem. Hundreds of iPhone 4 users are facing this problem and I think I have a possible solution for this. First, try rebooting the phone by holding the power button and the home button simultaneously. This solves most of the wireless issues. If this does not work, go to settings-> general-> reset. Make sure to have a backup of everything before you do this. This will most probably solve the problem. If the issue still persists, contact the Apple customer care.
Since your Wi-Fi network is working, it is probably a problem with the phone’s system or the firmware. To fix this, you can either factory reset your phone or upgrade your phone’s firmware to the latest. If you have iPhone 4s, you can upgrade its firmware up to iOS 9.3.5. If you decide to factory reset, backup your phone’s data first using iTunes.
Start iTunes on your computer then connect your iPhone 4s to your computer using the USB cable. Select your device in iTunes and then create a backup of your phone. Before doing a factory reset, make sure your phone is fully charged to avoid any problems during resetting. To factory reset iPhone 4s, on your phone, go to “Settings,” “General,” “Reset,” and then “Erase All Content and Settings.”
After this, tap “Erase iPhone” to confirm the operation then enter your passcode. After this, you just have to wait for the reset to complete and you’re done. Once the reset is finished, verify first that Wi-Fi is working. Slide the Wi-Fi to “On” then check if you can connect to your Wi-Fi network. If this works, you may now restore your phone’s backup back to your phone.
But if this doesn’t work, you probably need to bring your iPhone to the nearest Apple service center for proper servicing.
