Does my Samsung phone use 3g in utilizing Google maps?

Hi, I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S3. My job requires me to travel a lot so I often use google maps as my guide. Just want to clarify if the particular model (or Samsung phones, in general) uses 3G in generating Google Maps, or just Wifi? I need to know to avoid any big consumption of my 3G credit. Thanks.

Hello Frank,

Every phone (including Samsung Galaxy S3) with available both, WIFI and G3 will use them both, in the mentioned order. Every time the wireless network is available and your phone is connected, WIFI will be used. If there is no wireless networks in range or you are connected to none, the phone will automatically use G3 to access the internet.

If you are afraid you will generate too much traffic, you can always adjust the settings on your smartphone so it sticks to WIFI and doesn't use any other ways to connect to the internet.

Hello Frank Mackeey

You need not to be worried about your 3G credit. If you want to use google map application on your Samsung Galaxy S3 you just need an internet connection. You can use both, your 3G connection or wifi.

Google map support wifi connections.

Thanks
