This would really amaze me if its turns out to be true . Has Android really found a way for a app to read a photo.

Dear User,

Google Translate for Android version 2.5 includes added new features such as the voice-text translation and vice versa in over 64 languages.

It also consists of a newly added buttons at the lower portion that shows the icon for the camera. Now, it is possible to take a snap on signages and billboards. It will highlight the text that you want to be translated and the result of the translation will be seen on the upper portion of the application window. This new feature needs a Android 2.3 or higher.

Yes it is and they called it Google Translate. It allows the users to take a picture and then highlights the text on the picture that the user wants to translate from one language to another. Users will need to take a picture and then rub their fingers to the words that they want to translate and the application will do it. Google Translate is free to download.

Another one that is also available on iPhone is Word Lens. It cost $5 per language pack. It is an app that can translate signs, menus and everything.
