We all know that most of the data center giants prefer embracing renewable energy. Several companies like Google, Facebook and AWS build large data centers based on renewable energy. Even many companies invest only in datacenters with renewable energy? Do these datacenter giants prefer using renewable energy for PR or cost reduction?
I guess it is not only for PR’s sake but to cut cost as well since it is a fact that renewable energy can be freely acquired from nature. One example is the solar energy coming from the sun. The solar power is then converted into electricity with the use of a device which you can use to power up your machines.
But companies know that before you can setup all of these, you will be spending a lot of money. Because the technology behind the solar electricity, for example, is not yet that affordable. I guess that is also the reason why after Google and Facebook used renewable energy, Amazon Web Services or AWS didn’t follow immediately because of the amount that needs to be spent for the technology.
And because Greenpeace is pursuing the use of renewable energy and also to participate on the cause, they have decided, finally, to commit to one hundred percent [100%] renewable energy.
