DLO desktop agent scheduler error message on my Windows 7

I have installed the Symantec DLO agent on my Windows 7 PC recently. DLO Desktop Agent on Windows 7 comes up with a Windows Message Box with the following error message:

DLO Desktop Agent The Windows Task Scheduler is not running. Start the Task Scheduler and click retry to continue or Cancel to continue without scheduling any jobs

DLO Desktop Agent

The Windows Task Scheduler is not running.

Start the Task Scheduler and click retry to continue or Cancel to continue without

scheduling any jobs.

I click on cancel and I am able to run my jobs manually. I verified that the time window given, is greater than the frequency within which the backup job has to run. Tried restarting NetBackupDLODesktop Agent service but still the same.

I see that there is no problem with the running of the scheduler. Tried logging in with different user accounts but the error still persist. I have tried uninstalling the DLO agent, rebooting and reinstalling it back again but still get the same error message.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

This error usually occurs due to incorrect installation of DLO Desktop Agent 6.1 MP3 /MP4 in Windows 7. The problem never happens, if you have done a clean install of DLO 6.1 MP5 Agent on your computer. There are two solutions to resolve this problem.

Exit from DLO Desktop Agent (also from taskbar Notification Area). Stop Symantec Netbackup Agent and change the Journal Reader feature. Navigate to Windows Task Scheduler and delete DLOClientu.exe, then exit from Task scheduler. Now start and open the Symantec Netbackup Agent again. A new scheduled task will be added.

There may also be an issue with UAC surpassing the request from DLO to start the task. This can be fixed, by either disabling the UAC or setting DLO to run with Administrator rights. To disable UAC (User Account Control) go to control panel -> user accounts ->Turn User Account Control On or off. You can set DLO to run under Administrative privileges by Navigating to system partition -> Program Files -> Symantec DLO folder -> right click and go to Compatibility select ‘Run this program as administrator’.

Hello Harold,

To resolve that issue, you will need to do the following:
  • First, you will need to completely exit the NetBackup DLO Desktop Agent; that includes the Taskbar Notification Area.
  • And then you will stop the Symantec NetBackup Desktop Agent Change Journal Reader service.
  • After that you will open the Windows Task Scheduler, and then get rid of the DLOClientu.exe scheduled task – created by a prior version of DLO Agent.
  • And then you will close the Windows Task Scheduler, and then start the Symantec NetBackup Desktop Agent Change Journal Reader service.
  • Once you have done that, you will open the Symantec NetBackup Desktop Agent.
  • A new scheduled task will be created and that window will no longer be displayed.

Regards,

Carl
