JDI shows off 651 ppi display

It seems to be the agenda of nowadays is ‘Only the sharpest display shall succeed’. Recently 5” full HD 1080p display with a monstrous 440ppi pixel density has been showcased by LG. But Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has broken the record by announcing that it has developed a world class liquid crystal 1,280 x 800 display that is analogous  to those used in classic notebook PCs with incredible pixel density of 651ppi(RGB pixel pitch: 39μm*3). And the display itself quantifies just 2.3 inches. This newly developed display is about twice as high as that of other high PPI displays on smart phones. At this 651ppi density its certain that one will most likely need to have a microscope to observe any pixels. Also JDI says that the display “enables realistic and high-quality images that are comparable to film-based photographs”.

Specifications of JDI display

Screen size – 2.3 inch

Number of pixels – 1,280 (H) × 800 (V) (WXGA)

Pixel density -651ppi
Display colors 16.7M colors

Price – $750 approximately.
