When I am using Adobe Illustrator, the 980 fonts installed on the computer is working and active. I turned it off for couple of times now in the Font Book. But when I go back to Illustrator, it will become active again. And it really bothers me because I have to spend so much time in scrolling through a long list of characters again and again to find what I really need. I will be very happy if someone can help me on turning the fonts off permanently.

Disabling fonts in Adobe Illustrator
Hello Miller,
Disabling font previews in PhotoShop is one way that you can use to improve the performance of your photoshop. You can turn off the font previews by using the following procedure:
Go to Edit in the main menu of PhotoShop and the click on preferences. Thereafter choose type.
You will find that the TYPE option does not offer many options.
Go to the font preview option at the very bottom. While there, look for a check box which should be to the left of the option's name and click inside it to enable or disable the font preview as the option will allow you.
The font preview will be enabled ifthe check box is visible and it will not be visible when the font preview has been disabled.
