Disabled the option of “open clipboard pane after CTRL+C”

Is there a way to configure Microsoft Word XP or any other version of Word such that whenever I press either the CTRL+X or CTRL+C buttons twice the pane pops up as a result of this action is permanently disabled? I have disabled the option of “open clipboard pane after CTRL+C” in word yet this pane keeps popping up. I am wondering whether this can be disabled permanently through configuration of the registry settings. Is there also some application or software that can help me to disable this? I am stuck and I really need your help.

Hallo Rolf,

I think the error is popping up as result of some configurations you have changed in the ms word document, which you will need to revert. But that is kind of strange because the shortcut functions of the keyboard should only work when you press the key combination on the keyboard.Or maybe there are some keyboard settings that you may have changed and therefore you will need to figure that out by accessing the hardware settings in the control panel. If there are any keyboard settings that you might have changed that are causing the problems.

If you have a problem with the Microsoft Office Word clipboard that keeps popping up whenever you hit Ctrl + C, here’s how to configure the clipboard so it can stop popping up. In Microsoft Office Word, go to “Home” tab then click the small arrow next to “Clipboard” on the upper left corner of the screen.

Click the Clipboard arrow
Click the Clipboard arrow

Next, when the Clipboard pane appears on the left pane, click “Options” at the bottom then select “Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard” to enable it.

Select "Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard"
Select “Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard”

This should disable the Clipboard pane from appearing whenever you copy items within the document. Here is the complete list of options you can apply to the clipboard:

  • Show Office Clipboard Automatically – this option enables or disables the clipboard pane from appearing automatically. When this option is enabled, the clipboard pane will automatically appear whenever you copy items.
  • Show Office Clipboard When Ctrl + C is Pressed Twice – when this option is enabled, the clipboard pane will appear when you press Ctrl + C twice.
  • Collect Without Showing Office Clipboard – when this option is enabled, the clipboard pane will never appear even when you copy items.
  • Show Office Clipboard Icon on Taskbar – this option is enabled by default.
  • Show Status Near Taskbar When Copying – this option is enabled by default.
