Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google that uses the WebKit layout engine and application framework. It was first released as a beta version for Microsoft Windows on 2 September 2008, and the public stable release was on 11 December 2008. The name is derived from the graphical user interface frame, or "chrome", of web browsers. As of April 2010 [update], Chrome was the third most widely used browser, with 6.73% of worldwide usage share of web browsers, according to Net Applications.

The web browser is arguably the most important piece of software on your computer. You spend much of your time online inside a browser: When you search, chat, email, shop, bank, read the news, and watch videos online, you often do all this using a browser.

Chrome is designed to be fast in every possible way: It's quick to start up from your desktop, loads web pages in a snap, and runs complex web applications fast.

Google Chrome OS is a new project. It is an upcoming open source operating system designed by Google to work exclusively with web applications. Announced on July 7, 2009, Chrome OS is set to have a publicly available stable release during the second half of 2010.

The operating system is based on Linux and will run only on specifically designed hardware. It is a lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. The user interface takes a minimalist approach, resembling that of the Chrome web browser. As a browser incorporating a media player will be the only application residing on the device, Google Chrome OS is aimed at users who spend most of their time on the Internet and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems.

Netbooks running Google Chrome OS are available for consumers from the second half of 2010.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Hello!

The main difference of Google Chrome and Google Chrome OS is that Google Chrome is a web browser while Google Chrome OS is an operating system developed by Google for Linux.

Google Chrome OS is developed for netbook use and not for personal computers. It has been claimed by Google that this operating system takes up much lesser hard drive space compared to Windows 7 OS.

This OS comes with a good security system where it contains features such as auto-updating and sandbox that reduces exposure to malware.

This OS is now available to download and purchase,
