Differences between CS Photoshop and CS illustrator

I've been using CS Photoshop for editing pictures and making logo banners. I found this application as the most user friendly when it comes to editing photos and making 3d logos and stuff. But I've heard that CS Illustrator is also a good application that you can use to make great banners and 3rd logos. I might consider using CS Illustrator in the future but can someone tell me what are the difference of the two applications.

Thanks.

Photoshop is mainly used for editing images of bitmap images in preparations for magazines, newspapers or other print media. Mostly it needs high-end scanners and high-resolution digital image capturing devices (DSLRs) as its main source of media. On the other hand Illustrator is aimed at logo creation, headings, cover designs or vector images. I would suggest that using Illustrator would be better for the purpose you are aiming for, which is creating 3D logo and banners because vector graphics are more flexible in terms of resizing the images without pixelation, as depicted in the picture below.

It's fairly easy to learn and it has mostly the same interface as that of Photoshop.
