Hi! What is the difference between hardware devices which have multiple processors and those which have multiple cores? All the smartphones that are being used today contain multi cores? Is it possible to have smartphones with multi processors too? Which technique is better? I hope they are not the same techniques.

When the motherboard of a computer have multiple processors in it then it is called multiple processor and here both the processor can work separately for different work whereas multicore means that it must have more than one processing unit in its chip.Several front side bushes can have in a multiple processors whereas  L2 cache is shared in multiple cores.

Hello,

Multiprocessor is having more than one CPU. These CPU’s are work parallel in a system, hence also called as Simultaneous Multiprocessing (SMP).
Multicore is having multiple execution cores on one CPU. This means that certain part or subset of CPU’s components is duplicated, hence multiple cores can work in parallel on separate operations and called as Chip-level Multiprocessing (CMP).
The smartphones contains Multicores. Multiprocessor are mostly used in PC market rather than in smartphones. Both the techniques are used having individual features.
