I have been trying to download the new Dell Support Center on my Dell laptop and keep receiving error code 1306. Another application has exclusive access to the file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SupportSoft\DellSupportCenter\SYSTEM\state\logs\sprtcmd.log. It suggests I shut down all other applications and then retry.  However, nothing is open, no any window, no application is open. Can you tell me how I can find that particular program on the computer? Also I wanted to know how I can get rid of this particular error message on the computer.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Updating Dell support center may encounter problem during the updates. A possible issue with this is the 3rd party application involved.

Eliminating possible issues does great help but identifying what are they, is a little challenge and a different story.

Knowledge based article from Microsoft will give you idea how to fix 3rd party application.

Resetting the browser back to a factory default will solve this error code 1306 Runtime error.

* Open Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options
* Go to Advanced tab and reset back to default

Another steps to solve this issue is by following the instructions provided below;

* Go to Start, then hit Run
* Type msconfig on the box and enter
* Go to Services tab and uncheck Supportsoft line
* Go back to Startup tab and uncheck all the lines about reference Dell Support Center, there are 3 of them
* Save the changes, click Apply and the system will reboot

After the boot-up, sprtemd.exe should not be included, check if it's running in the Task Manager, Processes tab

Run the Aulauncher.exe on Dell Support center and follow the installation on the new version.

Put a check back on the box we did uncheck on the steps mention above in the services Startup tabs.
