Dell laptop undocked while on and now it’s not working

I have a Dell laptop that came with a docking station which is also a Dell. I did not have any idea if it was okay to undock the laptop anytime I wanted. I removed the laptop from the docking station while it was still on. I was able to continue working on the laptop but when I powered it on today, it got stuck at the Dell logo. What is wrong with my laptop and does it need repair?

Abraham,

You always must turn the computer off before removing it from the docking station.

A HDD damage can result from this..

Try to enter into the BIOS by pressing F2 after it starts. If you get into the bios, reset it to try to unblock it.

If you cannot do it, remove the battery. Some small covers on the bottom can be opened using a small screwdriver. Remove the battery for one or two minutes, reinstall it and then try to start your laptop.

If the problem still going, you better take it to the service shop.

Hope this helps

Riley
