Hi there,

I have an Dell XPS 11 Laptop which has this issue on audio output when I connect it to Head phones(or subwoofer), when I insert the jack plug, audio continues to play from internal speakers, when i set the headphones to be  default, audio plays from internal speakers and when I plug headphones they can play fine, but when I try playing audio from YouTube, it plays through internal speakers even with  the Headphones plugged in, what could be the problem ? How do I fix this?

Hi Corey

I faced a similar issue when i connected my HDTV to my laptop and tried to use Skype. You tried setting the headphones as default device and it worked for applications which does not use network. You can check if you have the same issue while using Skype too. If yes, then follow the steps below:

1. Go to Start and type Manage Audio Device and go to the Audio control panel.

2. On the Playback tab, select the Headphones.

3. Click on the arrow near Set Default button and select the default Communication device from the drop-down menu.

That should solve your problem. It worked for me.
