Bearing in mind the subjected issue, I've made up mind to remove public folder database via the following steps:

  • Deleting entire content of public folder
  • Make confirm OAB is merely declared as web only.
  • Need to confirm all the clients has latest version of Outlook i.e, 2007 and above.

Following the earlier stated steps, the time I try to remove it, the following error dialogue box appears.

The public folder database PF-BR-01 cannot be deleted

Microsoft Exchange Error

The public folder database ‘PF-BR-01’ cannot be deleted

Public Folder database ‘PF-BR-01” is the default public Folder database For the Following mailbox database(s):

MB-BR -01

• Before deleting the public Folder database, assign a new default public Folder database to the mailbox database(s).

To copy the contents of this dialog box, press CTRL+C.

OK

I have read your issues carefuly. I think solution of your problem is in the image.

At first you have to create a new public  default folder database in the mailbox.

To prevent losing all of the information you can copy by pressing CTRL+C.

However you also can use Microsoft troubleshooting to solve the problem.

Hello James,

To solve the error you have to make a few changes by using ADSIEdit.msc. At first go to connection setting from adsiedit.msc. Then select the configuration named context. Now try to find the container that holds exchange database. Then right click on the mailbox database you want to remove and choose properties. After that from attribute editor scroll down to find msExchHomePublicMDB, select it to click Edit. To change the value in ‘not set’ you need to hit on the Clear button. Now simply select the Ok options to save the change. Try to remove the public folder database again, hope this time it will be done without error.

Good luck.
