I am a computer programmer who also use .dbf database for my project using clipper programming. Before, I used windows XP as my OS/2, when windows 7 came out to the market; we upgrade also our system to windows 7. We never experienced error from using windows XP to windows 7 using .dbf database. So you can use windows XP, windows 7 or even vista for .dbf database. There is no problem regarding to the speed because .dbf database files doesn’t much use high memory of your computer. All you need to consider is the application or software that you going to connect your database.
