Hey there,

Here's my issue.  I had to recover lost data from iPhone 3G, which was not backed up. I have created image of the iPhone which comes around 8 GB. I have used the Photorec to parse the image and it looked like it finished the work. But I have faced a problem with that.

All contacts  seem to be in the  ‘vcard’ format but it has the extension of ‘.abcdp’. When I am trying to open the same in text editor,  it did not open. I have tried with the tutorial but there was no use. Please help me to get out of this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Stephen

Here is how-to recover you lost contacts (data) on your iphone 3G:

  • First you will need to have iTunes installed on a computer, and then you will open iTunes.
  • You will then connect the iPhone to the computer, and that you will just like you will sync the iphone normally.
  • You will then locate the iPhone on the computer in the "Devices" column, which is at the left of the iTunes application window.
  • You will then right-click on the iPhone icon in the "Devices" column, and then you will choose the "Restore from Backup." option. After that, you will need to select one of the backup versions that appear on the drop-down menu, and then you will click the "Restore" button. All the contacts that you lost since last time you synced in iTunes will be restored.
  • Thereafter you will disconnect the iPhone and then go to the contact list to check for the contacts that have been retrieved.
