CPU Usage goes up to 100% while working on Adobe Photoshop 7

While I was working with my pictures in Adobe Photoshop 7.0, my Sony Vaio suddenly hangs up.  It stops and I cannot click on anything and the mouse pointer can't also be moved. So doing my first action, I did a normal Ctrl+Alt+Del to end the current task. I end the task and it took a while before it goes back to a normal window. I open the Performance tab under the task manager and found out that my CPU Usage goes up to 100%.

Realizing that maybe this is the cause for the hangs and freezes I am encountering for the past days. I shut the computer down for about an hour then open it again. This is to close all the running applications. But to my surprise, the usage is still there and it is still reaching to its highest level. I unchecked all the running applications on startup, close all the active applications and on the task manager I end some processes. But it has no effect. I want to know how I can resolve this. I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.  I can't do system restore and clean install since I don't have any disk with me.

Waiting for help.

Thank you in advance.

DEAR ASHTON

It seems that you have got some sort of virus in your PC or may be some adobe Photoshop or camera files that are interfacing with your system and due to which making your pc under a load of 100%.

I suppose some ideas

1. Try to reinstall adobe Photoshop again and then check

2. Run antivirus in your system to accompany if any virus is there

3. Also check the tasks in the end task manager and check are these tasks are under consideration or not

Using these methods hopefully you will save the extra load that is on your Sony machine.

Hello,

This can be indeed a critical issue if your computer is operating at 100% usage rate, since there will be a chance of getting burned out. You can resolve the issue by analyzing more about PC problems. The simplest way is to configure an antivirus for fixing up.

First you need to set up an antivirus system on your PC. Viruses can be a usual cause for crashing out of computers.

Run the antivirus system after set up and remove antivirus if found any. After the completion of the process, you can restart your computer and work accordingly.

I followed all the instructions above and download Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool from here.

then install it on my pc. And also I end some  non useful processes that automatically start when I performed a reboot.

I'm thanking all of you for your unending support.
