I was clicking on the camera accessories device on my computer and a failure is stating that the CEC_MAIN.exe cannot perform and I have to install again the device. Would you like to help about this? I am running Windows Vista with built-in Crystal Eye Webcam. Thank you so much.

The CEC_Main is a Camera Assistant which you will find included on many computers. That program will be found on many laptops where the integrated webcam is made by Chicony. You can be able disable it by disabling the Camera Assistant TrayBar startup which is located on Startups tab, or you can choose to delete the program itself. If you need to find the CEC_MAIN.exe, you will have to access the following subfolder: "C:Program Files".

But in case the file is located in c:windows or c:windowssystem32 folder, then it is possible that the problem is being caused by a malware camouflage in the CEC_MAIN.exe. In that case you will need to check where it is located to know if it is malware or a virus.

That error means you need to install the camera’s driver again. You can always download the driver from the manufacturer’s website. If your laptop is Acer, Toshiba, or Lenovo, you can download the driver from here:

You need to enter your machine’s serial number or model number then click to search. When your product is located, click your product to go to the download page. Before downloading, select your correct operating system then download and install all available drivers and software for your machine. Alternatively, you can use ManyCam. It works for any webcam as long as your operating system is supported.

It supports Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 and requires Intel Core i3 or faster processor, 2 GB RAM, and internet connection for subscription activation.
