Hi Experts,
The problem is with my Photoshop. I cannot open .bmp and .exr files on it. While opening such files on it indicates, “Could not complete request because of program error”. Even in the open dialog box, the same file format is also not available. Have you any idea for the issue? Please help.

I will help you solve your problem. Which version of Adobe Photoshop you are using and on what operating system ? The problem could be in your installation of Photoshop. I recommend to uninstall Photoshop and install again and try to open the .bmp and .exr files. If still you have problem, then see Photoshop help or contact Adobe support.

I wish you mentioned the Adobe Photoshop version that you are using; however I could give a tip that could help you, and you might not have to uninstall and re-install.
Tip: Go to File Option, and then click Open, and in the opened box, select "All Formats" against File of Type. Now, select the file, and click open. This should solve the problem.
Bonus Tip: Make sure that your PC / Laptop's memory is sufficient for heavy programs, and their functioning.

I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and it is able to open EXR files (*.exr). If your Photoshop can’t open an EXR file, try to uninstall and reinstall it. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your Adobe Photoshop among the applications and click “Uninstall”. Follow the normal uninstall process.
When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then install Adobe Photoshop back and see if it works. An EXR file (*.exr) is an OpenEXR Bitmap file.
