Great day to all!

 While I was browsing the internet using Mozilla Firefox, it stopped and gave me an error message: Could not initialize the browser’s security component. I pasted below the whole content of the error message.

Alert

Could not initialize the browser’s security component. The most likely cause is problems with  files in your browser’s profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disks is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the browser and fix the problem. If you continue to use this browser session, you might see  incorrect browser behavior when accessing security features.

As I read the error message, lots of headaches were given to me. It is because I am not a technical person to understand the error. I also found nothing when I searched  the internet for similar error. That is why I tried to post this issue here on techyv, hoping to get some ideas on my problem.  Thanks for reading my post.

Martyables,

Your problem here is very easy to be solved, as long as the system has specified  the errors incurred. The main thing you need to do in this case is to check the memory of your hard disk and the registry or the 'directory' as it has been noted.  As you can see, in this case, the  most likely error is the space in your hard drive. You will need to reduce the memory of your local disk by using these steps;

  • i) Go to 'Start' button and click on it
  • ii)Go to 'My computer and click on it to open
  • iii)Go to the drive 'Local disk:C'
  • iv) Right click on it and select 'properties'
  • v)  In the 'General' tab reduce the memory
  • Check for file permissions in the Firefox profile folder using the following steps;
  • i) In theFfirefox window, click on Firefox menu, go to Help menu,(Win Xp, click on Help menu) and select 'Troubleshooting Information'. The tab will open.
  • ii)Under 'Application Basics' click on 'Open containing folder'. A window with ur profile files will open.
  • iii)At the top of Firefox window, click on 'Firefox' button.('File' menu in Win Xp) and click 'Exit'
  • iv)Right click on file named 'cert8.db'
  • v) Click on 'Properties'. A dialog box will appear
  • vi) Go to 'General' tab
  • vii) Make sure the 'Read only' checkbox is checked
  • viii) Finally, click on 'Ok'
  • You need to restart Firefox.

This should solve the error.

Thanks.
