Hello,

I have this error when I want to open my Pro Tools 11. Everything worked fine yesterday and before closing I didn’t make any settings changes. Can anyone help me to fix this? What caused this error right now?

Thank you!

Could not create the TCE plug-in’s factory default file because a AAE error was encountered,

AAE error 0 was encountered.

First, make sure your operating system is supported and it meets all the requirements. If you have the original edition Avid Pro Tools 11.0.0, it works only on Mac OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion until 10.8.4. But after looking on the screenshot, it seems that you are using Avid Pro Tools 11.1.2. So, in this case, your Mac PC should be running on Mac OS X 10.8.4 until 10.8.5 Mountain Lion or Mac OS X 10.9.0 until 10.9.1 Mavericks.

You should have at least 4 GB RAM. For Windows, Avid Pro Tools 11.0.0 requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows 8 while Avid Pro Tools 11.1.2 has added support for Microsoft Windows 8.1. Additionally, if you have Mac OS X Mountain Lion, you can have both Avid Pro Tools 10.3.8 and Avid Pro Tools 11.1.2 because they can co-install.

Anyway, you can get the error “AAE error 0 was encountered” if you are using an incompatible audio interface driver for your operating system. If you are using an Avid interface, download the correct driver from Drivers for Avid Audio Hardware. Another way is to trash your Avid Pro Tools preferences. To do this, open Finder and navigate to Mac HD, User file folder [house icon], Library, and then Preferences.

Drag the following to the trash:

  • com.digidesign.protools.plist
  • DAE prefs.
  • Digisetup.OSX
  • Pro Tools preferences

Next, empty trash and then restart the computer. Also visit Trash the Pro Tools Prefs for other helpful links.
