Could I use Gmail as mapi in Windows 7?

Here's the thing, basically I would want to use Gmail for mapi in windows 7, mapi being considered as a messaging architecture and a Component Object Model based API for Microsoft Windows, is this possible or is mapi basically running or already available on the windows 7 package itself? I hope someone would enlighten me.

Thank you.

Hi Leslie Joshuaa,

Microsoft decided not to support 'Simple mapi" on gmail system in window 7. Although countless applications use it to manage emails, gmails including 2ic pallets. A replacement system has not yet being provided.

Therefore window 7 users have this option:

1. Create Gmails/Emails messages manually by copying and pasting information from the '2ic.Gmail.txt' this file is created when there is Emailing error i.e. every time you Gmail with window 7

2. Downgrade by following this route 'C:windowssystem32mapi32.dll' file to the earlier version, i.e. replace mapi32.dll from window XP or Vista with the same file.

NB

Downgrading seems to work ok, Mapi32.dll on windows 7 version no: 1.0.2536.0 which is the same as Mapi32.dll on vista & XP windows.

I recommend to only rename the existing Mapi32.dll file rather than delete it just incase other programs do not work after downgrading in order to restore the previous Mapi32.dll
