Recently I have encountered a rather unusual scenario where CorelDraw X5 is displaying an error when I am trying to open a file. I managed to capture a screenshot and I have attached it here to get help on solving this annoying error. Any ideas are welcome.

Error reading a bitmap in file \watermelonhomedirsNanciMyDocumentsPublishing Services Booklet.cdr.
Click Abort if you do not wish to open the file.
Click Retry if you wish to continue opening file.
Click Ignore if you wish to open the file without further error messages.

CorelDraw X5 encountered an error
Hello Joseph! You have nothing to worry about. You have got your solution.
It is mostly like that you have got the file corrupted. It is possible that any file of a PC can become corrupted any time. The reason might be virus, Trojans or other Malware or by other way. As you have got your .cdr file corrupted, you will have to use a recovery tool.
There is a tool called Recovery ToolBox. It is a little program that can give you nice performance. It is easy to use and also, fast that will save your time.

CorelDraw X5 encountered an error
If you want to open a CDR file (.cdr) and it fails, check that the file is not corrupt. Open the same file with CorelDraw on a different computer and see if it can be opened. If the same problem happened then the file is damaged. The CDR file format or CDR (.cdr) is the file extension used by CorelDraw for a vector graphics file.
Adobe Illustrator 9 and higher and Corel Paint Shop Pro can also open CDR files. If you want to further check on the file, try opening it using these programs and see if it works.
